LET’s Talk

J4K Sea Cruise is an adventure cruise that takes the kids through 5 islands. The ship is captained by a Pirate who was a very bad person. She had gone on a trip to five islands. During that time she met the greatest friend (Jesus) and his life changed for good!

You will introduce the kids to this Pirate and help them learn from her experience. To do that you will go on a video call. Pretend to make a video call on the phone while showing the video to the children. You will have to pause the video intermittently and say a few words to make this session interactive. Please find the instructions in the script below. This session will be used to teach the Memory verse of the day as well.

Please find the script for the Destination Island (Island #5) video below:

You: Children, don’t you all like the pirate? Shall we make the video call? (Act as if making a video call using your phone. Then play the video)
Pirate Video: (Pirate will say Hi and will ask for the password)
You:
(Password is the Bible verse of the day. Help the children repeat the verse thrice. Pause the video if the verse takes longer to read and then continue.)
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. [Isaiah 40:31]
Pirate Video:
(The pirate will take you around the island and talk about it)
You: (Bid goodbye to the Pirate
)

Bible Event

Bible Portion: Jonah 4;
Story Outline:

Jonah did what God asked him to do. 1,20,000 people were saved. However, Jonah was not happy. Isn’t that surprising? When Jonah ask God for help after he had made the mistake, God saved him in a big way. But now he was angry at God for helping the people of Nineveh. He complained and complained.

God is good. He did not get angry at Jonah. Instead he taught him another big lesson. He made a leafy plant grow over the shelter Jonah was sitting in. It made the space a lot more cooler and Jonah felt so comfortable and happy that the plant grew over his roof. The next day, God sent a worm that ate all the leaves in the plant. The place became so hot and Jonah got very frustrated.

God said to Jonah, “Why are you upset about the plant being destroyed Jonah? You did not plant it nor did you water it. But you are sad that it is destroyed. Think about the people of Nineveh. How much more important they are than the plant that got destroyed. Shouldn’t you be happy that 1,20,000 people are changed and living a good life?”

What do you think of God’s lesson? (Let the children answer!)

God is good. He does not want anyone to perish. Even when people in the world hate him, He would go to any extent to save them. Would you try to be like God and help others make the right choices wherever you can?

Activity

The activity would differ for each of the age groups – Special (3-7 years), Strong (8-12 years), Deep (13-15 years)

Special (3-7 years)
Page 1: Ask the children to draw a picture for Jesus that shows how much they like Him.
Page 2: Ask them to look at the pictures and retell the story.

Strong (8-12 years)

Page 1: Use this excercise to tell the children that they can make the right choice even when it is hard. Trusting Jesus will make them strong to make the right choice. Please refer the image for the answer to the puzzle.
Page 2: This is a special message to Jesus. Ask the children to write anything they want to tell their friend, Jesus. They can write about what they have learnt in the past 5 sessions or just about anything.

Game

Make two hand puppets for the entire class. You can use any of the following YouTube video for reference or use your own idea. Invite two of the kids to come forward and hand out the paper puppet to them. Make them stand face to face. One kid should tell the other about Jesus to the other and vice versa. Repeat this activity as time permits. Using this exercise you will teach the kids to talk about Jesus to their friends.
