LET’s Talk

Objective:

You will use this section to establish anger as a universal problem – everyone gets angry.

Things Needed: A small ball

Method:

  • Pass the ball to a child in the class.
  • The child who caught the ball must answer the question “Who makes you the most angry?” (Example. brother/sister/friend etc.)
  • Then the child has to pass the ball to another child.
  • This child will catch the ball and answer the question and continue the game.
  • Continue the game as much as time allows.
  • At the end of the game ask this question – What do you do when you get angry?

Message:

Did you notice that none of us here could truly say no one makes us angry. All of us get angry once in a while. Today we are going to talk about what is the right thing to do when you get angry. Are you ready?

Memory verse

Bible Event

Bible Portion: Genesis 4: 1-12
Event Outline:

Cain and his brother, Abel, gave a gift to God. God was very pleased with Abel’s gift. He did not accept Cain’s gift because he did some bad things. Cain instead of asking sorry for the mistakes he did, got very angry with his brother. He planned how to hurt his brother. God noticed this and came down to talk to Cain. He asked him gently, “Cain why are you angry and sad?”. God also explained why his gift was not accepted. But Cain did not want to speak to God. God knew what Cain was planning, so He warned him, “Cain, sin wants to make you do bad things. But you can overcome it!”. Still Cain did not want to talk to God. He carried out his evil plan. He sinned. He hurt Abel badly. Abel died. Do you know what happened to Cain? Cain lost everything – his work became unbearable, he lost his home, he became a wanderer, and above all he lost God. He lost the joy of life. He became a cursed man.
Anger makes you do bad things. You will lose everything in life if you don’t master anger. Talk to God when you are angry. Then God will help you do the right thing.
ACTIVITY TIME

Things Required: Paper cup, Pieces of colored paper, Glue, Pen or pencil, Scissors

Preparation:

  • Make a small hold in the bottom of the paper cup with scissors.
  • Cut the colour paper into long strips.

Method:

  • Give each child a paper cup with a hole punched in it and some colored paper strips.
  • Have them draw a face on the outside of the paper cup.
  • Ask them to write or draw what makes them angry on each colored piece of paper.
  • Then they have to glue one end of the strip to the inside edge of the paper cup (see picture).
  • Place the other end of the paper strips into the cup.
  • When everyone is done, ask them to use the hole at the bottom to blow air and push the paper strips out.
  • Paper strips would fly out beautifully.

Message:

Your heart is like the cup. There will be many things that make you angry as you wrote on the paper strips. But if you don’t push it all out, you can’t fill your heart with good things.

Talk to God when you are angry, he will help you do the right thing.
