‘Smartphone addiction’ has become the number one complaint of parents about their kids in this digital world. Pandemic has made mobiles and internet a necessary evil both to the young and the old. A survey conducted in urban India in 2022 revealed that children between the ages of 9 and 13 spent about 3 hours per day on social media, videos, and games on the Internet.
Your super smart 2K kids may ask/ (politely) tell you, “Now tell me, where is ‘Smartphone’ mentioned in the Bible? Stop nagging me and let me watch this one video in peace!” while watching the 100th video of the day. Well, technically yes, ‘Smartphone’ isn’t mentioned but…
Our wise God takes this issue (‘Smartphone addiction’) as a whole and exposes the core of the problem. He puts it beautifully in one simple sentence – “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.” [Matthew 6:22]
In other words, Jesus says “Check your two little eyes so that you will not fall into addiction”.
What a profound wisdom! Wouldn’t you agree?
