LET’s Talk
Objective:
You will use this section to set the context of today’s lesson.
Things Needed: Below picture

Method:
Show the above picture and share the scenario given. Then ask the discussion question and encourage the kids to talk about the issue.
On the left of the picture is Raju and on the right is Ravi. Raju thinks Ravi has great parents, nice clothes, more Instagram followers, and many other good things, but he has none. Do you think Raju is right?
Then share this opener with them:
Did you know something strange happens when your eyes look at others and forget what you have? Today I am going to share about what happened to some great leaders because they got googly eyes (Eyes that always look at others)
Memory verse
Teach the following memory verse to the kids using hand movements/ any activity of you choice.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet… his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
[Exodus 20:17]
Bible Event
Bible Portion: Daniel 6
Event Outline:
King Darius decided to divide his kingdom into 120 provinces. He appointed a high officer to rule over each province. Then he chose 3 administrators to supervise the high officers and protect the king’s interest. Daniel was one of the three administrators who excelled in his work. So, the king planned to place him over the entire empire. When the other administrators and high officers found out about this they got googly eyes. They focused on what Daniel had and forgot about what they had – they already controlled huge provinces and were people of power. They plotted against Daniel and tried to get him eaten by lions. God saved Daniel. The king punished the leaders for their mistake and threw them inside the lion’s den. The leaders lost even what they had.
Message:
You already have so many good things. When you start looking at others and not yourself, you will get googly eyes and forget what you have. When you forget what you have, you will end up losing it too.
ACTIVITY TIME
Materials Required: 2 carton/ shoe boxes; 2 small face mirrors; gift wrap paper; markers/ decoration items; cellophane tape/ glue
Preparation: Paste a face mirror on the bottom of the carton boxes. Secure it tightly, so that it will not move or make sound. Close the lid and seal it with cellophane tape.
Method:
- Divide the class into two groups – preferably girls Vs boys.
- Show the two boxes with hidden mirror and announce that you are going to hold a competition to find which is the best box.
- The groups are to pick one box for themselves and decorate it as best as they can.
- At the end of the competition, announce that the winner is found inside the box.
- When the kids open the box, they will find out that it has mirror reflecting and showing them that they are their winners.
Message:
“Who is better? Who’s the best?” To answer these questions your eyes will tempt you to look everywhere. Don’t get googly eyes. Look inside yourself and you will find out what is best in you. That way you will appreciate the best in others and not be jealous of them.
