LET’s Talk

Objective:
You will use this section to set the context of today’s lesson.

Things Needed: In a plain sheet write in bold letters “I HAVE A REWARD FOR YOU. ASK ME”, small rewards (chocolate/ biscuit ).

Method:

  • Ask the kid to act as if they all have a mobile in their hand. They should put their head down and look at the imaginary mobile and play an imaginary game in it.
  • When the kids are deep in the imaginary game, show the sheet with the reward information. Most of them would have missed it as they were busy in their phones. Give the reward to those who noticed what you showed and asked for the reward.
  • Repeat the game by asking them to act like using their imaginary phones again and show the sheet when they least expect it.

Then share this opener with them:
Did you notice that you missed the rewards I had for you because you were focused on your mobile? What are somethings you miss in your daily life because of mobile? (Let the children answer) Today I am going to tell you an interesting story about some people who missed what Jesus did because they focused on the wrong thing.

Memory verse
Bible Event

Bible Portion: John 9
Event Outline:

Jesus saw a man blind from birth. He had compassion on him and healed him. Some of the religious leaders of the day who were called Pharisees could not accept that Jesus healed the blind man. They saw Jesus as a sinner. They could not see Him as a miracle working God. They did not have google to research but they used their own logic and reasoning skills to reject what Jesus had done before their very own eyes. Do you know why? They had closed eyes. Even when Jesus presented them with a miracle, they could not see it!

Message:

When you live your life dependent on external information (Google, Instagram, friends, mobile games), you also have your eyes closed. You will miss all the good things Jesus is doing for you and around you. That’s why spending too much time on mobile is dangerous for your life.

ACTIVITY TIME

Materials Required: Blindfolds, Some small objects to place around.

Method:

  • Divide the class into two groups (boys/girls).
  • Ask everyone in the group to stand in a line. Blindfold everyone except the last person, and ask them to stand as if they were holding each other’s shoulder.
  • Now place objects on the floor – some easy to find and others in hard-to-find places.
  • The last person should guide the group straight to the scattered objects only by hand signals. (For example tapping the right shoulder to turn to the right, tapping the left shoulder to turn to the left, and touching the head to reverse)
  • This will be the first round.
  • In the second round, you, the teacher will act as a guide. Give verbal instructions on where the hard to find objects are.
  • Finally ask the children “Which round was easier in finding all the objects?”
  • They would say that the second round was easier.

Message:

If you live your life listening to the voice of Jesus, you will lack nothing in your life. If you listen to others and not see Jesus, you will miss out on many good things.
