What you just heard is a curious sheep falling off a cliff in a small town in Turkey in 2005.
This would not have made news if not followed by…
BaBaBaBaBaaaaa…. SPLAT! BaBaBaBa…. SPLAT! Baaaaa…. SPLAT!
1500 sheep followed this one sheep blindly and fell off the cliff. 450 died that day. The rest broke a bone or two and became useless. The shepherds had left them alone for a few minutes to enjoy their breakfast under a shade. They incurred a loss of about 80 Lakhs in just a few minutes.
Do you see how dangerous it is for sheep to live without a shepherd (even for a few minutes)?
Now think of the thousands of sheep (adults and children) in the world without a Good Shepherd. Some of them are in the church and have a godly appearance as well. But to them, Friends, Youtubers, and TV Preachers have become more influential than the Word of God. God is sought after in times of need and then conveniently forgotten. The local church has taken a back seat.
Who will tell them of the impending danger? Who will tell them of the eternal consequences? Who will tell them that the Good Shepherd cares and is in search of the lost?
Will you?
Our mission with this camp is to inspire the 2K Aadu (2K – kids born after 2000, Aadu – sheep in Tamil) to convert the knowledge of the “Good Shepherd” into a lifelong relationship with “My Shepherd”. Imagine the wolves (in sheep clothes) they will escape if they find Jesus as their Shepherd not just the Good Shepherd.
Our camp has two flavors –
- Church Camp – Intended for churchgoers.
- Satellite Camp – Intended for camps that happen in believers’ houses. The lessons are designed for non-believers.
CHURCH CAMP:
Session 1: Cool Sheep
Did you know that, unlike the popular beliefs, sheep are one of the most intelligent animals in the world? Yet they have a huge problem of being distracted easily. We share how the Bible tells us we all are like sheep that wander off into our own downward path [Ecc 7:29]. So, we need a Shepherd.
Session 2: Good Shepherd
We have established that like sheep we are in desperate need of a shepherd. In this session, we tell them how God is the good shepherd, and how his Word is relevant even in this modern world [Isaiah 30:21].
Session 3: My Shepherd
Here we talk about the sacrifice Jesus made to make each one of us into His Sheep. He bought us with his life. We also teach the right response to Him. [John 3:16]
Session 4: Hakuna Matata Sheep
We help the children understand the next step after becoming Jesus’ sheep – To walk with him every day. [John 10:27]
Session 5: Ecclesia Sheep
We help the children understand that the local church is God-given to keep us encouraged and moving forward in this journey with Jesus. [Hebrew 10:25]
SATELLITE CAMP:
Session 1: Cool Sheep
We talk about how easily we can wind up on the wrong path and that is why the Bible compares us to sheep [Ecc 7:29].
Session 2: Good Shepherd
We share how the Bible advocates us to listen and get success through good advice. If an opportunity presents itself, we share how God can be the only reference for good in this world. [Proverbs 11:14]
Session 3: Hakuna Matata Sheep
A carefree sheep is not one that has all the money in the world/knowledge of the world; but one that knows it is on the right track every day. If an opportunity presents itself, we share how living with Jesus is the best way to live. [John 10:27]
