Singing Time
Lead the children in a time of singing.
LET’s Talk
Objective:
You will use this section to set the context of today’s lesson.
Things Needed: In three small chits of paper write “New”, “Big”, “hard”. Fold the chits and put them inside a box.
Method:
- Make the kids sit or stand in a circle.
- Play some music. Pass the box to the kids. They should keep on passing it to the child next to them until the music stops.
- The child who gets the box at the end, should pick and chit. If the chit says “New”, they should tell something they are starting new recently (Ex. Starting a new year in the school). If the chit says “Big”, they should tell something “Big” that is happening in their lives (Ex. Buying a new car). Similarly if the chit says “hard”, the should talk about some hard thing they are attempting or hard situation at home (Ex. Exam/ sickness, etc.)
- (Optional) Reward those who answer with a small toffee.
- Repeat the game until time permits.
Then share this opener with them:
Every one of us is either starting something new/ something big is already happening to us/ we are doing a hard thing. Today I am going to talk to you about what to do to be successful in those matters. Are you ready?
Memory verse
Teach the following memory verse to the kids using hand movements/ any activity of you choice.
In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight [Proverbs 3:6]
Bible Event
Bible Portion: 1 Kings 3:3-15
Event Outline:
Solomon was selected to be the king after his father David. It was a great responsibility. The people had huge respect and love for his father David. They must have had high expectations of him, David’s son. Becoming a king is not an easy task as you can imagine. But Solomon had the support of his father, mother, prophet Nathan, and many other elders in the country.
Even with all the help around him, Solomon asked God to give him wisdom to do the right thing always. God was so pleased to help Solomon because he included God in what he did and did not try to do it by just himself or with the help of other humans. God gave him riches and fame that could not be measured. God made him wiser than anyone else in the whole world. Can we read about his achievements from the Bible? (Ask one of the kids to read 1 Kings 4:29-34)
Today’s memory verse was also written by him in Proverbs 3:6. King Solomon found the secret to success – to include God in every little or big thing you do.
GAme TIME
Materials Required: Mix five different pulses/ grains (green gram, black gram, Chana, white rice, red rice, etc.)
Method:
- Divide the class into smaller groups. Give each team an equal quantity of the mixture and ask them to separate it and put it inside the 5 paper cups/ bowls you have given to each team.
- The team that finishes first is the winner.
- At the end of the game, ask the kids if any of them talked to God about the game. Most kids would have forgotten to include God in the game. Then share this message with them – “Include God in little or big things you do. Life will be so good and interesting if you do”
CRAFT TIME
Materials Required: Give each child a rectangular piece of chart paper, one seed, and small quantities of sand.
Method:
- Stick the seed towards the bottom.
- Apply glue around it and sprinkle some sand.
- Using a marker draw some root, stem and leaf.
- On the top ask the kids to write – “I am small now. But I will include God in everything and grow.”
- They can also make a loop out of satin ribbon and hang it as reminder in their home.

WRAP UP
Lead the children in a time of commitment and prayer.
