Are you ready ? Let’s start!
Memory verse

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” [Psalm 32:8]
Bible Event
Bible Portion: Genesis 11:27 – 12:9
Event Outline:
Abraham was the son of Terah who lived in a place called Ur. He grew up and got married to his beautiful wife Sarai there. Somehow Terah knew that he had to take his family to Canaan. It was God’s big plan (Genesis 15:7). But Terah halted on the way to Canaan and settled in Harran. He lived 205 years and died in Haran.
God told Abraham, “Leave your friends and family and go to the place I will show you. I will bless you and make you a great nation”. Abraham at that time was well-settled with a lot of servants. All his friends and family were in Haran. He was not young either. He was 75 years old.
Can you look at the map and find a way from Haran to Shechem in Canaan? The straight route from Haran to Shechem is 782 kilometers as per Google Maps. Abraham did not have Google Maps. So, it would have been a longer route. Can you imagine an old man making this long journey on foot with his entire family and possessions?

Abraham had every reason to disobey God. But he didn’t. He asked no questions. He gave no excuses. He obeyed God. He took his wife, his nephew Lot, and his servants and moved to Canaan the place where God showed him. He first settled in Shechem, then Bethel.
What did God do for Abraham? God blessed him exactly like he promised Abraham – “A great nation”. Have you heard of this country called Israel? Abraham is the forefather of them all. God also promised him that he would be the father of many nations. It happened exactly like God said – he became the father of Ishmaelites (Genesis 25:12-18, present-day Arabs), Edomites (Genesis 36:1-43), Amalekites (Genesis 36:12-16), Kenizzites (Genesis 36:9-16), Midianites and Assyrians (Genesis 25:1-5).
Message: Obeying God is the best way to live. You might ask “How to find out what God is asking me to do?”. “Bible” is the answer. The Bible is God’s Word. When you make a small prayer in your heart saying “Jesus can you please show me what I should do today?” and then read your Bible, God will speak to your heart. You may not hear an audible voice, but your heart will know what to do. Sounds like magic isn’t it? Why don’t you give it a try today?
