LET’s Talk
Objective:
You will use this section to set the context of today’s lesson.
Things Needed: Wrap a box and write “Lost and found” on it. In another piece of paper write “GOD” and place it inside the box.
Method:
Tell the children that in 5 weeks including this one, you are going to discuss about important things that have lost their honor. These important things make extraordinary people. If only the kids would find those lost things in their lives, then they too would be become great human beings.
Show the box and ask them to guess what the lost thing in the box could be. Once the children come up with few guess, show them what is inside and share the following introduction:
Let us say you got 100/100 in maths. What would you do you after seeing your top score?
You will feel very happy. You will tell you friends. You will thank your maths teacher. You will show your test paper to your parents the moment you get home.
Is there something you are still missing to do? Let’s look into the “Lost and found” box and find it. Yes, it is GOD. Let’s stop for a moment and think what all God did to help you get 100/100.
- He answered your prayers when you asked for help.
- He helped you understand the subjects that would come for the test.
- He gave you teachers who would help you study.
- He gave your parents money to put you in a school which helped you take 100/100.
- He protected you from falling sick during the day of the exam.
The list goes on. Today’s story is about a man who got a good thing and how he reacted to it.
Bible Event
Bible Portion: John 9: 1-38
Event Outline:
Jesus saw a man blind from birth. He could not see for 40 long years. Can you imagine that? Jesus made a paste out of mud and put it on the man’s eyes. Then he asked him to walk to the Pool oof Siloam and wash it. The man obeyed. He was completely healed, just as Jesus said. Can you imagine the happiness he would have had to be able to see after 40 long years?
When the man’s neighbors saw him, they were surprised. “Were you not blind? How do you see?” they asked. Here’s the interesting part – the man could have said “Well, I walked a long way to the Pool of Siloam and washed there. I got healed” or “Oh it just happened” or “it is magic”. But here is what he said –
“The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” (John 9:11)
Did you see how he honor God. He just didn’t thank Jesus in his heart, but he told all his friends and neighbors that Jesus healed him and it was not a coincidence but a miracle. Sadly, it did not help him. There were powerful people who did not like Jesus. So, they told him and his parents to deny that Jesus healed him. The man’s parents were afraid of them and so they did not honor God. But this man was so bold and he said “I was blind but now I see because of Jesus”. He was kicked out of the community as expected.
When Jesus heard about this, he went and found him. Jesus gave him a blessing that none of the others got – he revealed Himself as the messiah the one who could give him a place in Heaven. The man was so happy and worshipped Jesus.
You honor God by not just being grateful in your heart and prayers, but you need to openly declare to others around you that Jesus is helping you. Some of your own friends might laugh at you. But remember what Jesus said –
“So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32-33).

Method:
- Make the children stand in a circle.
- You stand in the center and point your hands towards a child. That child should say “See”.
- Point your hands to another child, and they should say “Saw”.
- Repeat the game by point differnt children and they should correctly say “Saw” if the previous child said “See” and vice versa.
- The kids who get it wrong should sit in their place.
- The ones who are standing till the end of the game are winners.
Message: Have you played in a See-saw? (Let the children answer) When you lift one person up, the other person lifts you up, isn’t it? Likewise when you honor God, he will honor you. Can you imagine being honor by the greatest person in the world! Being honored by God is awesome!
