Hi there! 👋
Thank you so much for partnering with the J4K-52 mission to share Jesus with children in a way that truly connects with them. We’re excited to have you on this journey! This lesson is Chapter 2 of Unit 2 (BLOCKED Account) for Spark Kids ✨ (Ages below 8). Click here for the complete lesson plan.
Let’s get started! 🚀

Use the links below to view the details for each session segment.

10 mins:   [✨✨]

Activity:

Ask the children to show the picture they coloured as part of last session’s home project with everyone.

Encourage each child as they show their picture and ask questions about the picture to recap the previous session’s message.

If time permits sing the “Block Pannaathe” song together.

Transition into today’s lesson by saying: In today’s session, we will learn how a family can choose to say ‘Yes’ to God—and what can happen when someone says ‘No’ to Him.

20 mins:   [✨]

Bible Passage: Genesis 4:1–16
Bible Event: Cain and Abel

Cain worked in the fields and grew vegetables. 🌱
Abel took care of sheep. 🐑

One day, both brothers brought a gift to God.

Cain had not been doing the right things (Genesis 4:7). He thought, “It’s okay, I will just bring a gift.” So he brought some vegetables from his field.

But God does not only look at our gifts. God looks at our hearts. 💛
God saw that Cain’s heart was not right, so He did not accept Cain’s gift.

Abel loved God and tried to do what was right. He brought his gift to God.

What do you think God said to Abel’s gift — “Yes” or “No”?

God said “Yes!” 😊
God was happy with Abel because his heart was right.

Cain became very angry because God accepted his brother’s gift and not his. God kindly told Cain, “If you choose to do what is right, you will also be accepted.”

But Cain did not listen. He chose to say “No” to God again. In his anger, he went and hurt his brother.

Let’s Think Together 🤔

  • What makes you very angry at home? What do you do when you are angry?
  • How can you say “Yes” to God when you get angry?
  • Do you want to be like Cain or like Abel?

Note: Please do not mention murder when teaching this age group. It is enough to say that Cain hurt his brother, without going into further details. This helps protect their young minds and keeps their imaginations from being exposed to unnecessary details about evil.

Seat the children in a large circle (young and older children together).
Create the “YES God, Family” craft.

Method:

  • Invite the children to discuss together what a family that says “YES” to God looks like. Encourage them to share their ideas and write the qualities or attributes on the chart, using the picture below as a guide.
  • The older children should ask the answers of the younger children and write it for them, in addition to writing their answers in their own craft.

  • Before the class, prepare several heart-shaped cutouts. Ask each child to choose as many hearts as there are members in their close family.
  • On each heart, have them draw the face or write the name of one family member, as shown in the example.
  • Once completed, help the children attach their hearts to the main chart using short threads and cellotape.
  • Finally, punch two holes at the top of the chart, tie a thread through them, and your beautiful door hanging is ready to display.

5 mins:   [✨]

Tell the children that in the next session they will learn more about how we can say “yes” to God as friends in the society. They have to complete this project/ task at home before the next session:

👉 Say “Yes” to God when you get angry at least once.

Note: Encourage the parents to ask the children to share how they say “yes” to God everyday in the coming week.

Each lesson does not have a separate memory verse. Instead, children are encouraged to memorize entire chapters or Bible portions. For Unit 2 (Blocked Account), the memory portion is

Psalm 119 : 9-11

We would love to hear about your experience!
Would you take a moment to share what went well, what could be improved, or anything new you tried that worked especially well?

Thank you! 💖
