Hi there! 👋
Thank you so much for partnering with the J4K-52 mission to share Jesus with children in a way that truly connects with them. We’re excited to have you on this journey! This lesson is Chapter 2 of Unit 2 (BLOCKED Account) for Flame Kids 🔥 (Ages 8 and above). Click here for the complete lesson plan.

Let’s get started! 🚀

Use the links below to view the details for each session segment.

10 mins:   [🔥🔥]

Activity:
Invite the children to share how they said “Yes, God” during the past week—at home, school, church, the playground, etc.

If you used the optional “Yes, God” mini book, allow them to share their entries with the class.

If you are using the Visual Aid, play the game as explained in the video (Refer to quick links). Reveal Block 2 for this week.

Transition into today’s lesson by saying: In today’s session, we will learn how a family can choose to say ‘Yes’ to God—and what can happen when someone says ‘No’ to Him.

20 mins:   [🔥]

Bible Passage: Genesis 4:1–16
Bible Event: Cain and Abel

Cain and Abel both brought offerings to God. God accepted Abel’s offering, but not Cain’s. Cain became angry and discouraged. In His love, God came to Cain and spoke to him. God explained what was wrong and warned him about what would happen if he did not choose to say “Yes” to Him.

But Cain refused to listen. He said “No” to God. In his anger, he committed a terrible sin—he murdered his own brother. The first family experienced the pain of saying “No” to God’s ways. Cain faced serious consequences because of his choice.

Talk Point:

Read Genesis 4:6–7 together.

Divide the children into pairs or small groups. Ask them to discuss:

  • God asked, “Why are you so angry? Why do you look so dejected?”
→ What does this show us about God?
  • God said, “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?”
    → What does this mean?
  • God warned, “Sin is crouching at the door… but you must rule over it.”
→ What was God teaching Cain?

Conclusion: After discussion, summarize:

  1. God comes looking for us—even when we fail.
  2. It is always better to return to God than to reject Him like Cain did.
  3. We may do many “good” things (going to church, giving offerings, serving), but if our hearts are not right, it does not please God.
  4. With God’s help, we can overcome sin. If we ignore His warning, we end up hurting ourselves and those closest to us.

20 mins:   [✨🔥]

Seat the children in a large circle (young and older children together).
Create the “YES God, Family” craft.

Method:

  • Invite the children to discuss together what a family that says “YES” to God looks like. Encourage them to share their ideas and write the qualities or attributes on the chart, using the picture below as a guide.
  • Before the class, prepare several heart-shaped cutouts. Ask each child to choose as many hearts as there are members in their close family.
  • On each heart, have them draw the face or write the name of one family member, as shown in the example.
  • Once completed, help the children attach their hearts to the main chart using short threads and cellotape.
  • Finally, punch two holes at the top of the chart, tie a thread through them, and your beautiful door hanging is ready to display.

10 mins:   [🔥]

Ask each child to reflect and identify one or more ways someone in their family might be saying “No” to God.
(You may use the Yes No, God” booklet for guidance.)

Home Project: Encourage the children to pray for that person throughout the coming week.

Next Session: Let the children know that next time, they will learn how communities can say “No” to God—and how they can live faithfully even in a “No-God” community.

We would love to hear about your experience!
Would you take a moment to share what went well, what could be improved, or anything new you tried that worked especially well?
