Detailed Notes

25 mins: [✨✨]
GAME: Water Walls
- Draw two parallel lines at least 10 feet apart. Mark one as the Start Line and the other as the Finish Line.
- Choose 5–6 older children to be the Water Walls. They may move freely within the space between the two lines but must stay inside the playing area.
- Ask all the remaining children to stand behind the Start Line.
- When you signal “Go!”, the children must run to the Finish Line without being tagged by any of the Water Walls. Anyone who is tagged is eliminated from the round.
- Children who safely reach the Finish Line should return to the Start Line and get ready for the next run.
- As the game progresses, gradually reduce the number of Water Walls to make it easier for the remaining players.
MESSAGE
Today we’re going to discover how God performed an impossible miracle and made a way for His people through walls of water.
Are you ready?
30 mins: [✨]
Bible Portion: Exodus 14
Story Time
God is powerful
How many of you have been to the beach? (Let the children answer.)
Did you go into the water?
How far did you go? Up to your toes? Your knees? Your waist? (Let the children share.)
Can anyone walk through the sea?
No! We can walk on land, but we cannot walk through water. Only fish can swim and live there!
That was the big problem the Israelites had.
God had helped them escape from Egypt. Pharaoh, the cruel king, finally let them go after God showed His great power through Moses.
More than six lakh people left Egypt. They were so happy! God led them with a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night.
Soon they reached the Red Sea.
But then they heard something behind them…
Clip! Clop! Clip! Clop!
The Egyptian army was coming!
The Israelites looked behind them. There was the powerful army.
They looked in front of them. There was the deep sea.
They couldn’t go forward.
They couldn’t go back.
They were frightened.
What do you think they did?
(Allow the children to answer.)
They cried out to God for help.
Do you know what God did?
God told Moses, “Lift up your staff.”
When Moses obeyed, God sent a strong wind.
Whoooooosh!
The water split apart!
Huge walls of water stood on both sides, just like the game we played earlier.
Right in the middle, God made dry land.
Can you imagine that?
The Israelites didn’t swim.
They didn’t need a boat.
They walked across the sea on dry ground because God made a way for them!
When all the Israelites had crossed safely, the Egyptian army tried to follow them.
Then God let the walls of water come back together.
Splash!
The army was defeated, and God’s people were safe.
Isn’t our God amazing?
Nothing is too hard for Him.
When we are afraid, God can help us.
When we are weak, God is strong.
Whenever you have a big problem, remember that our powerful God can make a way, even when there seems to be no way.
5 mins: [✨]
Place a shallow plate of water in the middle of the class.
Invite the children to blow across the water and try to make a path through it.
Was it possible?
No! But God made a dry path through the Red Sea because nothing is impossible for Him. Remind the day’s lesson with the kids.
